"Pietà" by Michelangelo Buonarroti

Introduction

Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, and architect of the High Renaissance. He is considered one of the greatest artists of all time and is particularly known for his ability to capture the human form with incredible precision and emotional depth. His Pietà is widely regarded as one of the most significant sculptures of all time. Created when he was just 24 years old, it remains one of his most celebrated and iconic masterpieces. The work captures the raw emotion of the scene, conveying both the sorrow and the serenity of the moment.
